Daida Ruano Moreno won the PWA wave world title six years in a row, from 2000 to 2005, again every year from 2008 to 2011, and in 2013: eleven wave titles. She was also the freestyle world champion from 2003 to 2007, and counted 18 world titles in all. She retired in July 2023, after winning the wave event at Pozo on Gran Canaria. Her twin sister, Iballa Ruano Moreno, won the wave title nine times.
