Freestyle world titles won by Campello and Gollito, 2003–2018
Ricardo Campello was born in Rio de Janeiro, took up windsurfing after moving to Venezuela and made his home on Isla Margarita, sailing under sail number V-111. He won the freestyle world title in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
In 2006 the title went to Gollito Estredo, born in 1989 in Porlamar on the same island. It was the first of nine: he won again in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Between them the two riders from one Caribbean island held the freestyle world title in twelve of the sixteen seasons from 2003 to 2018. Few places have shaped a windsurfing discipline as strongly.
