The RS:X at the Olympics, from Beijing 2008 to Tokyo 2020
The Tokyo Games of 2020 were held a year late, and the windsurfers raced from 25 to 31 July 2021 off Enoshima. It was the fourth and last Olympic regatta on the RS:X.
Kiran Badloe of the Netherlands went into the medal race needing only to avoid disqualification and won with 37 points, ahead of Thomas Goyard of France and Bi Kun of China. The women’s event was much closer. Lu Yunxiu of China won with 36 points; Charline Picon of France and Emma Wilson of Great Britain both finished on 38, and Picon took silver.
Olympedia calls Badloe the last Olympic champion of the RS:X. The board that had replaced the Mistral in 2008 was itself replaced: from the Paris Games of 2024 the Olympic windsurfers raced on the iQFoil.
