9world titles
Kristin Boese, PKRA and KPWT, 2005–2008
In the mid-2000s kite competition was split over two world tours and many disciplines. Kristin Boese won in almost all of them.
Guinness World Records counts nine world titles between 2005 and 2008, the most for a woman. In 2005 she won the PKRA freestyle and wave titles. In 2006 she won PKRA freestyle again, and the PKRA slider and kicker title. In 2007 she took the PKRA boardercross title and, on the KPWT, the overall, wave and course racing titles. In 2008 she won KPWT course racing once more.
The list shows how wide the sport was at the time: jumping and tricks, riding waves, racing around buoys and obstacle courses were all world championships of their own. In 2009 the sailing federation ISAF put Boese on the shortlist for World Sailor of the Year.
