World champions in their first season
Benjamin Castenskiold, aged 14, and Marie Schlittenbauer win the surf-freestyle world titles in their first season on the tour.

In August 2025 the GWA world tour stopped at Playa El Burrero on Gran Canaria, from 5 to 8 August. The surf-freestyle titles, for jumps and tricks, were decided there.
Both went to newcomers. Benjamin “Benji” Castenskiold won the men’s title at 14, in his first full season on the tour. Marie Schlittenbauer won the women’s title in her very first season.
Six years after the first wings went on sale, the men’s title went to a rider who was about eight years old when they did. In kiting, Gisela Pulido had done something similar in 2004, winning a world title at the age of ten.
